ChestnutBacked Chickadee
by Dennis Plank
I found this old round with a wonderful knothole through it that I've repurposed as a peanut feeder. It hasn't taken the Chickadees (both Chestnut-backed and Black-capped) very long to discover it. Unfortunately, the light has been pretty dim the last couple of days, so I couldn't get the dof I'd really like without going to a multi-flash setup which I don't have.
7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 324 mm, Jobu Gimbal on blind window, f/8, 1/250, iso 2000, manual exposure, flash with compensation at -1 2/3. I used NeatImage for noise reduction and it handled the iso2000 quite well even after having to increase exposure substantially in the RAW conversion. Processed in LR & PS CC. Cropped from a horizontal original to 14.3 MP before resizing. Taken this morning at 10:06 am.
