Fall is in the air

I have been having fun with black & white images the last year or so.  When the weather starts turning that can be the best time for b&w.  I would love some feedback on this image, contrast, general appeal, etc.

Taken near Sidney, BC (Vancouver Island, Canada).

Nikon D810, 17-35mm 2.8, f/11, ISO 31 (low mode), 5 mins with three NiSi filters.

I like the feel of the image - does feel like a stark fall day.  Maybe because of the lack of vegetation it feels more desolate.  Streaking long exposure clouds give a nice surreal look and motion to offset the static rocks.  Contrast looks fine to me.  There seems to be some blue streaking introduced into the sky, not sure where that came from.  Dig it.

This is very cool. I like the stark look and the detailed foreground works as a great lead to a dynamic sky. Not sure if the blue in the sky is intended. It is an interesting twist, but I find it draws more attention to itself than I would prefer.

Thank you for the feedback.  It is interesting to see what other people see in an image.  The blue in the sky is intentional.  I was really experimenting with what I call colorizing.

I like that the shoreline rocks and clouds both radiate from the left, and they provide a contrast between static and moving.  I might prefer the image without the blue.

Dave,

Terrific "b&w" image.  Great contrasts and I really like the drama and motion in the sky.  I also really like the long exposure letting the water turn in to a big, soft reflector of light.

I like the blue and think this is quite creative.  I've done some coloring of b&w and I think it can be very effective, although some thought must go in to it.  I think it works very well.  It works because the very first impression is clearly a black and white image, bold, great contrast, range of tones, etc.  But then the discovery of blue adds almost another dimension.

You might find my attempt at this interesting. Posted this in Photo Art a few weeks back.

Only minor suggestion would be to clone out the bright spot on the distant horizon.

I like this composition, a sort of a blast from center left to the corners of the frame. There's also the involvement of highly structured bottom vs the smoother top. It's not a very peaceful scene. There's a lot of energy in it which the high contrast enhances. A really good image. Personally I would remove the color entirely as it's hardly noticed and serves little purpose.

Nice conversion Dave!  Excellent detail and the cloud motion works very well.  Very nice moody feel.

This is real nice, Dave. I love the clouds, and I even like the hints of blue--it's almost like the image was selenium toned. The smooth water in contrast with the sharp rocks works well. Nicely done.

Thank you everyone for the comments.  Was very helpful for my future long exposure image jouney.

Dynamic composition and a fine range of tones and textures producing a strong feeling of isolation; the contrast between the powerful clouds and the stillness of the waters works beautifully.
