Pine Siskin/Cotoneaster
by David Schoen
Here is another branch of cotoneaster, this time with a Pine Siskin. Yesterday, about 25 Pine Siskins landed in the area of my feeders and a few branched out and landed on some of the perches. I like the neck stretch this one is giving me. Once again very dark and rainy here in the Pacific Northwest. By the way, I have two different species of cotoneaster growing in my yard. One is still quite green compared to this one which has red and orange tones. So far, the Golden Crowned Sparrows are the only birds I have seen eat the berries.
