A shot outside the City Library, Manchester, where some paulownia trees have been planted, their purple bell-shaped flowers fluttering in the Spring breeze.  They find various uses in the busy city centre.
Canon 400D, 18-55 @ 18, 1/320 @ f8, ISO 400; cropped to approx 1/2 size.

I like the subdued tones of the image and I think the blues and red of the bike pair nicely with the flowers and the red folder in the persons hand. I think waiting just a hair longer to allow the persons head to clear the gate post/sign area would help separate them a bit more.

Love it - Very dramatic and effective. The bright bits of colour contrast the basically B&W image perfectly. It would be nice if the tree and bike were not dead-center, but the perspective would be harmed any other way.
Small nit: that bit of string below the lady can go. cool

Ian, very impressive image!  I feel the location of the woman with the red folder makes up the third leg of a triangle and balances out the foreground  and the sparse display of color accentuates the purple and red tones that tie the image together.  Sandy is right about the string, it's distracting.

I like this a lot. The dynamic of the static bike and the moving pedestrian is great.  Human vs machine, moving vs. stationary and both have open space ahead. Great moment in time. I agree about the string.

Congrats on a fine WP - this is a common scene made quite striking with your skill.

Congratulations on the WP Ian!  I like the way this photo almost appears to be a B&W with the color put back in selectively.

A very Cartier Bresson composition. Convert it to b&w and you're there. I would crop some off the top to simplify it a bit. Congrats on the WP!
