Desert Hills

I love the deserts. The wide open spaces, contours, lines, colors and varying geology fascinate and captivate me. The morning and afternoon and evening shadows highlight the rough topography, giving depth to the landscape. This one was my first afternoon in Death Valley, not long after I arrived.

Please have a look at the large version. The detail is lost in the small.

This has very nice detail and texture that becomes more evident in the large version. The tonal range here is excellent. I like the pano crop. Works for me, Harley!

There is a lot of tension, energy in this image from the sky and the shadows in the mountains.  The large version has the shadows more opened up which adds to the richness of the image. I really like this a lot, Harley. A beautiful image for sure. No nits from me.

Harley,

You are the master of the "wide open spaces."  It's clear from  your images of the desert how much you're connected to the landscape.

Love the tonal range, the vast, expansive view and such a fabulous and complimentary sky.

No suggestions, fantastic as presented.

Harley, this is beautiful. This seems a perfect vista and light for B&W. I love the subtle opposing diagonals throughout the image. The clouds add a lot of interest as well.

There is a dark line and a light spot along the bottom edge, to the right side, that I would suggest cloning or maybe cropping out.

The topography in the land fits so well with the cloud sky.  This is terrific, Harley.  Definitely a wall hanger.

I love the deserts.......devil

Harley, I could not agree more. Was at J-tree yesterday and it was a chamber of commerce day out there.

I love this take. The detail with the B&W treatment is just super. I never get tired of this open unending look these spaces provide. You've provided us a spectacular image to represent that unending perspective overall.

This is excellent, Harley. Wonderful details in the larger version and the dappled light creates a lot of depth. Processing looks good. I might play with taking a small crop off the top so that the ratio of land to sky is greater.
