I was deleting some older files and found a bunch that I did not think were very good.  After further examination, these actually may work out.  This is a larva of the Baltimore checkerspot butterfly.  They were out in one of our weedy flowerbeds munching on assorted plants.  180mm f3.5 (1/80 sec at f16, Iso 200), levels, slight crop for comp....................Jim

Jim, the Baltimore Checkerspot is a locally rare (25 miles from Baltimore!!) species that our annual butterfly count sees in one location.  Around here it feeds exclusively on white turtlehead, which only grows in wetlands.  This is a fine view, the details in the cat's spines show very well in the larger view and the background blends well with the nicely angled stem.  Hard to see why you didn't like this the first time...cool

I don't have much experience in macro photography but this looks very good to me. The shallow DOF provides a wonderful green background for the orange and black caterpillar. I'm trying to figure out which end has the mouth. Actually f/16 isn't that shallow but I guess the rules are different in macro.

Excellent, Jim.  Definitely not one for the scrap heap (or wherever all those electrons go).  The composition is excellent and you have excellent dof.
