Bass Rock

Bass Rock is a bird sanctuary located just offshore from North Berwick Scotland. In prior years, it was used as a prison and most recently as a lighthouse. At this time, the island is home to thousands of sea birds, mostly gannets and a few gulls and puffins. I thought this photo showed the density of the population of birds and is best viewed large. As we drew closer, it certainly seemed like every bit that could be used as a nesting was used as a nesting site. Olympus E-M1 and 12-40 lens at 1/1250, f/5.6 and ISO 160. Richard

Hard to believe so many birds in one place!  Nicely shown!  TFS.

Interesting setting Richard. The rock seems a bit crunchy, but that may just be the amazing number of birds here.
