In keeping with the thread here, I am posting this early morning shot of a reddish egret from Bolsa Chica Wetlands in Southern California.  Canon 60D, f5, 1/100 sec., iso 640, 100-400 ISLii, at 271 mm, cropped to 3X4 format, handheld braced on boardwalk railing.  Thanks for your comments and critiques.

The reflection and the treatment of the water are very attractive features of this image, Ed, but it is, of course, the light and the colour which strike you most.  In the larger view especially the cool blues and pinks of the bird contrast wonderfully with the streaks of yellow on the pink water.  I also think the crop gets the comp just right.  No nits !!

Excellent shot of the egret. The way the water fades from pink to blue perfectly mimics the coloring of the egret and the reflections of the sun on the wake just tops it off.

Ed, the colors in the water make this view wonderful.  You've got fine details in the bird and a complete reflection.  The extra glow in the wake is a great addition.  In extreme nit picking, in the larger view there are a few spots right next to the bird where it looks like your burning in didn't get all the way to the bird, (where the legs touch the water, top side of the lower back, neck crook, and the reflection).  I expect that most viewer's won't notice those.

Ed, this is an excellent detailed image with some nice BG light. The pink sunrise colored water makes this a very calming scene. The larger version helps provide a full scale of the egrets features overall, especially the head and eye area.
Having no idea what a Pinkish Egret looks like firsthand in color scheme, are the lower feathers bluish/gray as seen here or more white and it's the reflective water doing the blue cast? Just curious on that point.

The gorgeous color palette of blues and pinks work beautifully in this scene, Ed. I really like the reflected warm color in the ripples behind the egret. My only suggestion would be a little noise reduction, but that is an easy fix. Great work here.

Fascinating light here.  The colors are otherworldly.  I really like the effect.  The glow in the water behind the Egret is just amazing.  Nicely seen and done.

Ed, I like the golden streams of color behind the Egret as it compliments the other hues in the image. Very nice indeed....

A lovely image, Ed.  I see why you like it.  The colors are really cool and the somewhat coarse plumage of the Reddish Egret works well with the feel of the image.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Paul. This is actually a reddish egret in a pinkish setting. The colors are reddish on top and grey below. Merry Christmas everyone. Ed
