Here is another shot of my neighbor's horses in the snow. I like this one much better.

Well composed, Lucy. I cant see any texture to the horse's fur, and the eye contact is lost to shadow. Looks like the snow may have fooled the camera on the darks.

I'll second what Phil has written. I like the composition and especially the position of the horse on the right, but it really needs detail in the dark parts.

We haven't had snow in 8 years, and then, as now, only one day. So, I'm really not used to settings for snow. Plus, I AM NOT an early bird! But, my snow shots were taken pre-dawn and just after dawn. I was terrified, that the sun would come out and POOF! It would all be gone. And, that is JUST what happened! So, for once, getting up early didn't kill me! LOL
Also, both had their winter fuzzy coats, so not much to focus on. But, it was cool to see Hank's (rt. horse) breath was captured in my photo!

Beautiful setting and animals.
I think you could recover some detail in the dark areas and eyes by using the shadow slider in PS conservatively.
Very Nice image well worth a bit more work - Email me if you want a bit of help.
