Red and White Giant Flying Squirrel to be exact.  This is a shot from Taiwan, we went out in search of these guys at night a couple of times.  We never really got one out in the open or flying but managed to get a few images of them, I realize it's pretty busy but I thought it was worth sharing this amazing animal, it was very foggy this night. 
Canon 1DX II, Sigma 150-600 at 451mm 1/250 F9, iso 800, handheld, manual exposure, 580ex flash at full power.

I've never seen one and probably never will. I think this is an excellent image and appreciate your posting it. Another example of why NPN is so appealing to me-I get to see great photography and things I've never seen in the wild and probably will not.

Did not realize one of the giant flying squirrels could be found on Taiwan.  Have never seen one.  Thanks for keeping after it and getting the photo.  Is this your only photo?  Would like to see more if you have them.  Thanks for sharing.

Hi Nate,

Very nice to see one of these guys.  You were able to get a fairly descent image of this image and the densely packed leaves of the BG provide viewers of the habitat that these animals frequent..................Jim
