Peaceful Beach Sunset

BEST SEEN LARGE.

Thank you for your comments on my previous images.  Your comments and critiques are always welcome.

Another warm December day on the Florida Panhandle. It was also a rare wind-free late afternoon as the sun was just beginning to drop below the horizon, casting long shadows. It was so quiet and beautiful.

This was double RAW process with Capture Pro at two different white balance levels (one of the sky, and one for the beach which was slightly warmer to take some of the blue out of the sand).  I also cloned out a couple of little things here and there.

Comments, critiques, and suggestions are greatly appreciated and so helpful.

Happy New Year!!  May we all have wonderful photo opportunities as well as a year filled with peace and kindness.

I've seen this image on your website before and marveled at the subtle beauty in tones and color in both the sand and the sky. You have really look at this for a while to pick up on them. For my personal taste I feel the sea is a little to contrasty on the right. But that's a minor nit and is just a personal preference. A 'dreamier' sea may look better or it may not.

Living in NH, I though this was a snow covered beach.  Way off!  Subtle tones and colors are very soothing.  Do see what Igor is referring to on the water - almost looks over sharpened or choppy.  Beautiful pristine scene.

Looks like a great way to end the day, Bill. This has such a wonderful relaxing feel to it; like I could pull up a beach chair with a Sammy and watch the sun go down. Happy New Year to you as well.

This has Bill Chambers written all over it!  I've been missing the white sands and sea grass postings from you.  This one is a gentle and beautiful one.  I would not only be quite happy standing there, bare foot in the sand - but also so much happier finding such a pristine spot - with no other footprints.

I could see softening the contrast a small bit in the right half of the ocean to match the mood, but that's pretty minor and of personal choice.

The only other suggestion I have might be to enhance the earth's shadow a smidge to be a little more pink-lavendar? As presented the color of that band is leaning more neutral/brown than pinkish.  This is also quite minor and photographer's choice.

As presented, this is just a lovely, quiet, peaceful and beautiful seascape. Thanks for sharing this one!

Really nice image, Bill. Conveys a great mood with the soft pastel light and colors. Wish I was there (even cold as it may be) right now. Processing looks good to me.

So winter is so bad this year that it has snowed in Florida? I also though this looked like snow initially...

Bill, I really like the twilight colors you got in the sky, and I agree with Lon that you could boost the pastel colors of the earth's shadow a little more. The soft lighting here is great, and you have done a nice job of capturing the pleasing tonalities of this twilight light. I also like the spotlit bush on the right side, it helps to move my eye around the scene.

My only nit is that the water does appear a bit over-sharpened, but the rest of the scene looks okay, not sure what caused this.
