This shot was taken last October at Bodie State Historic Park located near Lee Vining, California.  Bodie contains what remains of an abandoned "Gold Rush" town that thrived from 1877-1882 with mining continuing in that location until 1942.  At its peak, the population was estimated to be 7000+ residents.  Although the remaining buildings are maintained in what is considered a state of "arrested decay" so the buildings' roofs, windows and foundations are repaired and stabilized, other artifacts such as these old autos are left to the elements.

I've added a small amount of canvas to the left side and bottom of the image so I could straighten the horizon with a slight crop.

Paula, this is very cool. Never knew about Bodie State Historic Park, so great history. The image certainly has a story to tell.

Paula, your emphasis on the two foreground vehicles with the buildings in the distance looks great.  The warm colors in the grass are set of well by the touch of blue sky.

I love it, Paula!  Great POV, with the old rusty cars in the foreground and old buildings behind.  Love the history you shared as well.  Nicely done,

This is really well composed Paula. Great fall colors (signs of aging grass) that provides the setting that really fits with the theme, not to mention the old cars and old buildings. There is also a really good flow from front to back in this photo. Wall hanger from my perspective.

Nice junk yard Bodie image to show aging. In fact a junk yard would have been a great place to shoot for this subject. I know this spot well. I'm always attracted to the car on the right but for the subject this is a much better view point. The disjointed look of the main subject makes it look 'broken' in spirit as well. Nice placement of subjects on the canvas.
