Dew on the Eyes

The temperature dipped, after a few days of increased temperature, and resulted in some dew. There werea  lesser number of dragonflies, and the foliage ( the grassland ) had started to dry up. I used the 36mm extention tube on my 180 with this result.
Even as i tried to experiment with the dof, the dragonfly, wiped its eyes clean. Early morning back light.

Excellent capture, Balan. The dew on the eyes is great. Wonderful color and detail. The obstruction of the left eye by the stem is unfortunate or is this would really be a fantastic look at the dew covering the DF's head and eyes.

The details and magnification of the drops on the eyes is amazing, Balan.  I could wish that it's perch weren't in the way, but understand the huge challenge of finding a df, with this much dew, catching the sun, and using a more horizontal perch for a clean, head on look at the eyes...

Fascinating look at the eyes and I am really enjoying the dew drops.  The stem is a bit too distracting for me.

The stem doesn't bother me. I am too busy looking at those wonderful eyes! For me that would be a one in a million shot. Cropping off some of  the out-of-focus part at the top might bring more emphasis to the face of the dragonfly.

Admittedly, the stem could be a bit of a distraction, but those eyes! They command attention so much that the stem has no meaning. A crop more to a square might be the means of removing any critical onus due to the stem. One has to work at being distracted to take one's eye off the eyes! I would love to have this one for my own!devil

So glad you got this, before the window wipers started! sad  Love the detail in the beads magnifying the patterns in his eyes!
