Tropical Wave Action

Here is an above water view of some "wave action" in St. Thomas.   The deep red centers and black spines on the sea urchins were so pretty, that I got a lot of photos of the waves moving back and forth across them and their substrate.  Hope you like this.

The mix of colors and the surface textures look great Lucy.  Those red stones(??) are a neat find.

The red you see in the body of the sea urchin.  It is surrounded by deep black spines.  But, the waves "parted" the spines exposing the red bodies.

Very much an abstract image.  Well seen and taken.  I do question if you needed the thin red border, I find it a bit distracting.  Thanks for sharing.

I can see how you were drawn to shoot this, Lucy. The variety of color and the wave action are great for making an abstract.
At first glance the image looked chaotic to me rather than abstract. Some observations: high contrast; top 1/3 of image is soft; my gaze went to the rock at left of center because it caught the wave action there; there's a nice lower right to upper left diagonal to work with. If the black/red spot is your subject, it seems a little lost in the other "stuff". A re-post with tweaks to the highlights and some cropping (to better use that diagonal to 'point' to your subject) might effect a better interpretation of your idea…

Nice color palette and I like how it appears to be a group of brightly lit jewels.

Actually, I chose this image to highlight the wave action to the left of the urchin.  The urchin added a bit of color, which I echoed in the frame.   I thought the wave action looked kind of like a "long creature"!  LOL.

Very cool, Lucy.  I never would have guessed the original subject, but I really like the water look to this.
