Little Blue & Breakfast

In reviewing some older files I ran across this one from Lake Martin Rookery, May 2011. Crawfish are a popular menu item for us locals, as well as many of the herons. I didn't notice until now, but this Little Blue had apparently already enjoyed an appetizer of appendages before going after the main course. I framed this a bit high, I cropped from top to 3:2 aspect.

Very nice.  Soft light, good head turn and prey.  Well done.

Awesome to get him with the crayfish Bill, I might crop in a bit more from the bottom and right to make it more of a head and shoulders portraitdevil

Nice detail on both the bird and the bug, Bill.  And excellent choice of aperture setting which isolates the bird well against the background.
