Pacific Dogwood

A few Pacific dogwood trees were in bloom along one of the trails at the Lewis & Clark National Monument in Washington.  I removed one partial OOf flower that was hanging in space after cropping.  I adjusted levels and removed a magenta cast to some of the stems with an adjustment layer for Hue & saturation. K5 IIs 300 mm f4 (1/200 sec at f6.3, Iso 800).....................Jim

Nice and sharp on the foreground elements Jim. Pretty colors also. The petals seem just a bit bright.

Jim: Really good DOF/POF choice and BG control. A herald of Spring. Nicely done.>=))>

Love the dogwoods. Here on this coast they are an Easter tree, the petals symbolizing the Crucifixion of Jesus. They are a difficult tree to get growing in an urban setting. The long stem with the sparsely populated flowers and leaves show very well against the dark background. Good POV and isolation of the subject.

Simple and effective composition in the same time, beautiful and emotional BG. I love the photo Jim.
