I captured this hummingbird he as was hooking up to a Chinese lantern blossom.   The side of my house created the solid background which helped the hookup stand out. All Feedback is appreciated!  Ry

Nice detail in the hummer, Ry, and the house did make a sweet background.  It looks to my eye as if you did some cloning beneath and to the left of the hummer and it looks like it could use a bit of smoothing out.  If you temporarily increase the contrast the smudges should show up better.

Hi Ry,

I like the pose of this hummer over your other post. This image has potential for a very simple, but strong composition.  The house BG color is not natural, but we can use as a a BG in a black & white version of the scene  (Hint: Weekly Challengeenlightened).  Eliminate the tendrils and bottom vegetation.  Pull up the brightness to get the BG as white as possible and tweak those shadows to get more details out of them. Also eliminate the speckling in the light BG and convert to BW.  You may want to play around with the crop to get only the essential elements in the image which are the hummingbird and flower.....................................Jim
