A different take on this species.  I was going through old files again and ran across a series of this bird foraging in the Columbine.  I liked this one for the different angle and the wing position.  Certainly not a good ID image, but fun.

1DIV, 500 mm f4 ISL + 1.4 TC, Jobu Gimbal on Gitzo legs, f/8, 1/1000, iso 800, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1/3 EV.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to 7.5 MP from a horizontal original.  Taken at 7:10 pm on June, 3, 2011.

Your comments and critiques are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Great capture, Dennis.  I like the different angle.  I am so looking forward to the time to set up the hummingbird feeder again.  Love to watch and capture photos of them.  Nice challenge.

Interesting pose you managed to captyure here. Looks like a ballerina. Well done.

Amazing what a difference a 90% turn makes. The frontal view makes this an interesting and totally different picture.

I really like the "iron cross" pose here.  Such a small creature, yet what a powerhouse!

This is a pose I've seen photographed, shot from the belly up. Pretty impressive considering the crop.

This looks really good at this level of crop.  The colors of the flower in the background are a nice counterpoint to the different pose of this Rufous Hummingbird.  I like it.
