Feeding Junco & Vertical

I caught this Dark Eyed Junco feeding on some moss.  Overcast.  Interesting observation in that this particular Junco returned to the spot several times to feed on the moss.  I haven't seen that behavior in the other Junco's.

Very nice!  Interesting pose with exceptional perches and background.  I like how the junco is framed by the limbs.

Nice pose and framing of the branches, though i am not keen on the square crop!

Nice feeding posture, David and fine detail. I can see why you included the growth on the right, as there some interesting colors, but considering the posture I would vote for a vertical, and it would be even better if you had framed vertically (assuming the original was horizontal).

Very cool, David.  I like the vertical crop for the most part, but it does crop off a lot of the branch that the moss is hanging from, so I'm kind of ambivalent about it.

Did you actually see the Junco pluck pieces of moss?  I'm wondering if maybe it was drinking from it.

In answer to the question posed by Dennis regarding feeding, here is a shot with moss in the mouth...
