Watch Duck

This Pintail drake seemed to have drawn first watch in this bunch at the Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge in Northern California.  They were standing on a shelf of thin ice but seemed to have weighed it down just enough to have a thin layer of water over it.  That provided a really nice reflective surface to work with.  Canon 60D, f7.1, 1/2000 sec, iso 400, -1.3 EV, 100-400 ISLii at 263 mm.  Full height, cropped to 3X4 from 2X3 shape.  Thank you for your critiques and comments.

A nice capture of this cluster of ducks on thin ice, Ed!  They do look all fluffed up due to the cold.  Nice colors and detail (especially in the large version) and some great reflections as a bonus.

The habitat here looks familiar, Ed, another fine look at the birds, their reflections and the habitat.  I thoroughly enjoy their reflections.

An interesting grouping and reflections, Ed.  I like how the frost crystals on the reeds give the temperature away-very subtle.

Pintails are beautiful ducks and you captured this nicely with the one on the right.
