Gaudy Gorget

Every now and then I'm able to get a head-on shot of the Anna's Hummingbird.  There were some sun breaks when this image was taken but the light is also augmented by fill flash.  I don't know if the flash contributed to the level of saturation on the gorget or whether it was the sun.I cranked down the purple and magenta saturation by over 50% but it didn't seem to make a whole lot of difference.

Iso 1000, 200-500 at 480 mm, F7 .1, 250th, -0.3 EV, fill flash at -0.3, D 500, tripod, ACR 10.2, Topaz adjust, TK sharpening action at 40%

This is quite impressive!  I think the magenta color is probably very realistic in that light.

That is one spectacular gorget, David.  An interesting contrast with the fringes on the winter plumage of the breast that kind of calms it down.  This is a really cool flight shot of this species.

Nice to see the entire gorget on this one David. Nice work getting this! I see you said you were challenged with the gorget saturation. I would say your flash was too high IMO.

Wow, that is bright, but it's gorgeous.  I sure like how the wings came out in this..  What a great flight shot.
