Canyon Bare

I was in Zion first of the month and found this while wandering around the canyon. I have always looked for a bare tree against the dark walls, but this is first one I have liked.

Harley, I really like this! It looks like frost on the tree and that looks great against the reddish brown of the canyon wall the way it is highlighted. The larger version is especially nice with wonderful texture and detail. A 4x5 crop would probably work nice but I like it fine just as is too. Really nice work!

Harley, this is very nice indeed. I like the elongated view as is but could also entertain a crop from the top for another perspective. Not an excessive crop but down just a bit on the canyon wall. But when looking at the larger version the long view is truly excellent.
Zion is at the top of my list in the park system.......laugh

Man, that looks like a rare sight, and a beautiful one, too.  What is that -- frost/light snow that is slower to melt because of its distance from the radiant heat of the ground and canyon wall?  Whatever the cause, it turned that tree into something special against the colorful rock.  I like the way the composition gives us a sense of the height of the cliff, rather than just concentrating on the tree.  (Yeah, I hate cropping out anything that looks good. ;^)

You caught a little bit of spotlighting to make the tree stand out well.  Lots of character in the red wall too.

I really like the stark beauty here, Harley. The delicate beauty of the bare trees works nicely juxtaposed against the rugged canyon rock walls. No nits from me.

That tree stands out very well against that massive rock wall, Harley.  With the spot lighting on your subject, it's easy to see why this is one you like.

This is real nice, Mr. H.. I love the white branches. Their starkness in contrast with the rock wall works very well. Just a thought, but you might consider a crop from the top to just below the curving overhang. To me, the tree is the star of the show. The processing is excellent.

A compelling interplay of the diverse elements to me, Harley. It is most interesting for me how the subtle twigs and branches complement the mighty rocks. I also appreciate the metallic look of the rock face a lot.
