Red Breasted Nuthatch

I took this last week.  Shortly after that, the Nuthatch stopped coming to the feeders and I haven't seen it since.  It seems that in the last few days, bird activity has significantly decreased perhaps because they are getting ready to nest.  I'm happy that this bird cooperated for at least 1/250 of a second.  Overcast.

Iso-1600, 200-500 at 500 mm, F8, 250th, -0.7 EV, fill flash at -0.3, D 500, 75% full frame, tripod, DxO photo lab, ACR 10.2, Topaz adjust, TK luminosity masks and sharpening action at 35%

Very nice, David.  A good clean shot of the Nuthatch.  The oof moss on the right doesn't add much for my taste, but it looks awfully difficult to remove cleanly.

I am impressed that you managed to get one of these to stay still long enough to get this beautiful shot.  I heard one in the trees the other day; chased the blasted thing around and around.  Never could see it, just heard it!  This is a great image.  I think it conveys that fast-moving feel, as it looks like it is ready to take off.  They don't stay still for long.  This really shows off their colors, too.

Nice species to have in front of your lens. I agree that in this case the OOF is not adding, if any it's even a bit distracting. Techs are spot on, and the overcast weather helped I guess. Despite my little nit, I do love the image ! Cheers, Hans
