Thanks Sandy for the suggestion, but rather than recrop the original I took another shot. Obligingly, the bird moved closer to the twig – instructions given by sign language from our living room.

Very cooperative bird! Please come here and train some of these... they NEVER listen to me...
I do think this is better. Now, how about a little dodging of the face to lighten it and bring out more detail, especially of the eye?
