Sony A77II
Minolta 200mm macro
ISO 200, 13 secs @ f32

On my way home from church this morning I stopped in the store to pick up a few items. The floral department is just inside the door and these Irises begged me to take them home with me angel. Who could say no to one so lovely? All comments welcome. Please view LARGE.>=))>

PS: For whatever reason I usually see portrait comps better than landscape. The original is true to the orientation of the flower as it was shot but I rotated it to vertical for comparison. Please look at the first comment for the portrait version.

I'm just the opposite. I like landscape, mostly because it displays larger on the monitor screen. Although—and I just noticed this—it seems to be easier to see texture in a portrait alignment. That is probably due to my glasses, which hinder my peripheral vision.

This is a very interesting comparison.  Bill, I think I'm with you - I tend to like the portrait view better.  As for the image, I was very drawn in by the thumbnail.  I really like this perspective/POV.  Excellent light and colors too.  Well done!

I like the landscape version better with this one Bill.  Love the colors and the textures too.  I think with the portrait orientation it feels like it is falling over to the left somehow.

I really like this picture. I definitely favor the landscape orientation on this one. Colors are superb the flower texture is sublime. Almost makes me wish I was in insect. Nice job Bill- Ry

Sumptuous color and lines, and I definitely prefer the landscape orientation.

No doubt that it was your. The larger view is great. I surly prefer the horizontal version. I love this photo Bill.

I love both versions, Bill, and they are both excellent.  They have quite a different feel to them - that's for sure.  I think on this one, I do prefer the portrait version.  The yellow lines draw me in, and I love those back areas of the bloom.  Hard to choose though - they are both great!

We did the same thing with a potted fresia the other day - it just begged us and begged us to take it home!
