Gnat Catcher

This little Blue Grey Gnatcatcher was working over this bush at Bolsa Chica Preserve in Southern California in December.  It was so hard to catch in a clear spot and after about five minutes or so, I actually got a couple of shots where it was fairly open.  So fun to watch flitting about hopping up and down the stems looking for bugs.  After I left another photographer stepped up to my spot and kept shooting.  Canon 60D, f5.6, 1/4000 sec, iso 400, 09.7 EV, 100-400 ISLii at 400 mm, cropped to about 50% of original.  Thanks for your comments and critiques.

Cute little guy. Love teh color pallette and the multi-tired color background. Well done.

Sweet little bird, in a natural habitat.
Good job catching these  quick little flitterers.

I like everything about this Ed. Even though there's a lot going on in the background the bird stands out well. The Gnat Catcher may be a little soft (maybe the large crop) but still a nice frame. Well done!

Excellent bird in habitat shot.  Terrific perch and the diagonals created by the brush.  This is one of your best shots Ed.

This is beautiful, Ed.  I love the composition and you managed to get the perch in great focus while softening all the background sprigs, so they don't distract.  A great pose from the Gnatcatcher.  Very well done.
