Through Thin Ice #5

Here in MD, we've been on the southern edge of all the storms hitting the Northeast, that has translated into 10 days with overnight temperatures in the mid-20s (F) and daytime highs above freezing.  The ice in my ponds freezes overnight and then melts during the day.  This has let me spend quite a bit of time exploring views through the ice.  Here's another view from last Sunday.  This one is a 20 shot stack.  (5D3, 100-400 IS II @ 255mm, f/11, 1/15s, iso 800, tripod and polarizer)

Of the three (so far?), I prefer this one. A fantastic image.

Nicely composed, great detail and wonderful color pallette. i wonder about cropping a little of the dark area on the right.

This is a marvelous image, Mark. It works as an abstract as well. Great composition with intriguing colors. I might burn in the yellow in center left a bit. But that's really being nit picky.

Another great shot Mark. Amazing to be able to stack that many shots.  The colors and textures are outstanding. The shapes of the ice are extraordinary.

Simply a gorgeous image Mark. This shot has lot of impact, the sharpness enhances the textures. This shot is so sharp and crisp that I feel like I can reach out and touch the ice. I also love the interplay of warm and cool tones throughout the image. And your processing of the ice highlights and deepest shadows is perfect, it adds such a richness to the shot. Keep them coming, I really enjoy your ice images a lot.

As much as I liked the last one I like this one even better, Mark. The arrangement of details and textures in the ice is absolutely stunning as are the colors underneath. Wonderful job on this abstract. I hope you have a few more to share.

Magnificent abstract, with all that texture so sharp and the glowing colors underneath. This is the best one yet. I like everything about it. The only possible suggestion, and it is truly unnecessary, would be to bump up the blues a little to have the warm/cool contrast. This stands without any suggestions and is one for the wall.

Wow again!  This has a very different overall feel than the last one.  It's not as bright at first glance, but the detail in the ice is fantastic.
Super job on the stacking. 20!!
Really nice series.

Ice is nice, and will suffice. This is my favorite of the series. This is really well done, Mark.

Wonderful, Mark. Great texture in the ice surface and nicely balanced color coming through from the water plants. I went back to compare and IMO, this is even stronger than the first.

The frozen "action" is amazing! devil  the colors, comp and texture are awesome.  The main subject reminds me of an angel.

Mark this is my favorite one of the three. Nicely done, like "fire in ice".

Mark, this is really great! Just full of texture and color, and the technical skill with a 20-shot stack is impressive. Like Ron, I could see a crop off the right, I find the dark area just a little heavy, and not as interesting as the rest.

Absolutely excellent.  My favorite of the ones you've posted so far.  Amazing detail and colors.  Although it has been cool in the Pacific Northwest, nothing like what you have experienced back East, although there is snow in the forecast for Thursday this week.

This is exquisite, especially the large view but I'm intrigued. Why the 20 shot stack? It seems you were pretty parallel to the scene.

Some great colors and ice formations tht you just don't see in many ice images, unless they are reflecting sandstone walls in the southwest.  Fascinating to explore, incredibly beautiful.  Might tone down the one bubble near the bottom of the frame but otherwise don't think how to improve on what you have.

This is lovely, Mark.  I prefer this over #2 because the colors and textures are more evenly distributed, and as an abstract, the image works better for me.

I'm not sure what to offer in terms of a critique of this fine image, so I will just say I like it!  devil  You have such a great eye for these scenes - the color adds a unique flavor to the textures in the ice.
