Coyote and Geese

Another fun moment from last year's spring visit to Yellowstone.  One of my clients spotted this coyote on the shores of the Yellowstone River.  It was far away, but was approaching a large flock of Canada geese floating near shore.  So we pulled over in hopes of an interesting interaction.

Rather than the expected hunting opportunity, the coyote was more interested in finding a place to cross... and decided to jump in almost in the middle of the geese.  The birds, to their credit, largely ignored it.  When the coyote proceeded to dog paddle across, we were able to snap a few shots with the geese providing some needed texture to the background.

Images like this are not intended as art for the viewer, but as a portal to the experience.  I appreciate this as it immediately "takes me there."
