Definitely, NOT "Rocky Raccoon"!!!  frown  I encountered this very scary fella during the day in my yard next to the first pasture.  I did not get very close, as he should not have been out and about at this time.  Plus, he had a really scary facial expression...screaming, "DANGER, DANGER, I'm going to KILL YOU!" frown

I sharpened him up with a little Topaz.   He never foamed at the mouth, so maybe, he had distemper, not rabies...But, I didn't want to find out!!!

How interesting,  I raised an abandoned baby Raccoon including bottle feeding and training at digging up crawdads.  It eventually ran off, but a couple of times, it snarled at me showing off quite a menacing set of teeth.  Their claws are amazingly sharp also.  I wouldn't want to mess with one.  Your raccoon stands out very nicely in the grasses and the snarl is quite menacing.  This does look a bit oversharpened.

That is an awesome grimace Lucy.  It looks like you applied some kind of special filter to get this result?

Lucy, I'm amazed that you had the presence of mind to actually capture this image.  It's quite the threatening facial expression and I probably would have been exiting the area before trying to diagnose his condition.  He's a great subject for the weekly challenge.  Good luck!

I took it so fast and darted back inside, that his hairs and the grimace were a tiny bit blurry.  So, I used Topaz Clean to simplify his pretty fur and his menacing grimace.  I may have oversimplified (oversharpened), which was actually my intent...to impart my terror at this backyard rogue just outside my door! frown

That is one mean looking raccoon, Lucy.  We're lucky enough that thus far we don't have rabies in anything but bats in this area.  I don't know what was wrong with this one, but something sure was.  A beautiful image with wonderful texture in the fur.
