Violet-green Swallow

We had some decent sun for awhile yesterday mornign and there were some of these that were being fairly cooperative.  This took a fair amount of work to bring the darker shades up without blowing the whites, but I think it worked reasonably well.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, hand held, f/8, 1/3200, iso 640, aperture priority, pattern metering, -2/3 EV.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to 10.5 MP.  Taken at 8:41 am yesterday.

Your comments and critiques are always appreciated.

Thanks for taking a look,

Nice looking bird.  Having the violet part hidden allows me to appreciate that cool mask.  I agree, the processing did work well; tones look perfect.

This is a mighty fine capture of this Swallow Dennis. Perfect comp and detail with a catchlight in the eye.

Good pose and good job in bringing out the feather detail.

Really excellent image with superb detail and color in a difficult subject.  We have a few of these in my area but they won't land anywhere but the electric wires.

One of my favorite spring migrants.  The larger version is quite nice with good detail and the back colors show up.  Difficult exposure handled well.

Beautiful bird, and so well captured, Dennis.  I am not familiar with this particular bird, but you really have exposed it so well, with great colors and detail in the feathers, and that blue sky for a background just makes this one pop.
