Steller Sea Lion

I happened to be waiting in the Zodiac prior to one of our excursions in the Great Bear Rainforest last year when this sea lion began splashing around in the nearby inlet.  We were still moored to the big boat, so we couldn't get closer, but I tried to capture a few distant shots as it chased a salmon.  As you can see, it finally landed its prize.  The photo is cropped a far amount, but I was pleased to still see some nice detail in the resulting image.

Great catch for both of you! Perfect perspective to get the sea lion and fish in profile.
The white patches are a little distracting, and might be burned down a bit.
Very nice image!

Outstanding Max!  The low POV makes this for me.  I'm curious what all the white blobs are in the bg. Birds? They drew my attention a bit.  Well done!

Steve, you are correct.  Those are gulls, which are more than happy to create a distraction in nearly any coastal background up there, given the opportunity. angel

Max,
Sensational capture of the moment, I would try to darken the gulls as they are very slightly distracting

Great timing to catch everything lined up so well Max. This has really nice detail for a large crop.

You absolutely maximized the opportunity.  This is a great example of how one can observe wildlife behavior and know that there is one special instant that would be best...and if lighting and timing come together along with your preparations, perhaps a single click as reward.

I especially like the hint of colorful reflection, the dark water, the suspended droplets...and even the gulls!
