Slash of Light #2 + repost

This was taken 5 min after the previous post, same lens, this time @ 18mm and 1/60th sec, f16.
After hiking for 3 hours, then climbing 1000 metres in 2 hours  with a 20KG backpack, I wasn't feeling particularly fleet of foot !
Consequently, combined with the rapidly changing light, I didn't have the chance to establish a great foreground. I think maybe this is the better of the two images, but would be interested to hear opinions on this, and any other feedback always welcome.

Neale: I like the rich colors although this does look a bit underexposed all over. Adding 1/2 stop or so of light would make some of the details in the shadows more evident without losing any of the good color in the sunlit mountains and the reflection. >=))>

You had some interesting light to work with.  While the foreground may not be ideal it works having the trees in silhouette.  Overall, though, the scene is quite dark.  If it were mine I would consider brightening the clouds and the mountains.

Thanks guys, and I agree its too dark !  In this repost I've brightened it a little and it definitely improves the image I think.

Neale, I think the repost looks much better and makes for more of an inviting scene. My own taste would be to crop in on the right side just past where the mountains drop off. That area seems to draw my eye to the edge as it is. Either way I like this second version!

A scene which I immediately recognised, and a true wilderness image. The light and clouds are wonderful. The repost is very much better. I would personally shift the colour balance a touch more magenta than the orange look here, but that's down to personal preference.
