Deep Purple Tulip/REPOST

My friend and I went out for a photo shoot at our local botanical gardens yesterday.  We really enjoyed the tulips.  I took this one using my Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 100 mm L macro lens, K-800 twin flash with homemade diffuser, handheld.  Settings were f13, 1/90, ISO 200. Edited in Lightroom and NIK software (normal adjustments).  Slight crop, (99% of original).  Comments and suggestions welcome.

Looks like a "Queen of the Night".  You captured the rich dark purple very well.  I do find the yellow in the background a bit of a distraction.

Shirley: A beautiful subject. I agree with Skip regarding the yellow OOF stuff above the flower and I think I would bring up the brightness of the front of the bloom just a bit. I do like your DOF/POF choice. I might also vignette the corners a bit to deemphasize the somewhat cluttered BG and bring more attention to the tulip. >=))>

Shirley, the larger image gives a much better view of the tulip, and the yellow OOF is not nearly the distraction, although the comments made by Skip and Bill are worth considering. Give them a try and see if it helps. Repost or resubmit if it looks better to you.

Nice detail and deep, rich color in the tulip.

Thank you all so much.  I was troubled with the distracting background as well, and should have investigated into what I could do to improve it.  I think I have incorporated all of the suggestions using Lightroom and NIK.  In NIK I was able to change the bright yellow to a darker green to go with the rest of the background.  Let me know if I went overboard with the edits.  I have been known to do that.  Post processing isn't my strongest point yet.

Shirley: I think the repost is a significant improvement. Really well done. I've edited your title to reflect the repost. You can do this yourself using the edit link on your thumbnail. It's a good idea to let others no you've made adjustments.>=))>

Thank you so much, Bill.  I do appreciate the feedback, as well as you editing it to be a repost.  I had never done that before, so didn't realize that I could do that.  Still learning this  wonderful site.  You all are the best!
