Heavy Load

This woman is carrying a large and heavy load of pine needles which are used as bedding for livestock. When no longer clean enough, the needles are composted and spread in the fields.  Per the local guide, the load will weigh around 40-50 kilos. This photo was taken near Punakha, Bhutan. I shot it to capture a bit of the environment as well as the woman. Olympus E-M1 and 25mm lens at f/1.6, ISO 200 and 1/8000. Richard

Your photos of people, their environment and living conditions are outstanding. This is no exception, and I believe one of your best.

Good PJ stuff as usual, Richard. It's good you got her looking toward the camera.

Real nice documentary/travel image of the woman, her life and her environment. Very well done!
