A captive scarlet ibis from the bird exhibit at the Detroit Zoo. I cropped a third off the photo from rh side. The BG is an OOF palm frond. Levels and reduced saturation of the reds which were intensified in the JPG version. Please view it at the large size. K5 IIs 300 mm f4 (1/125 sec at f5.6, Iso 250)..............................Jim

Fine portrait of this guy, Jim. Your framing against the greenery sets off the brilliant red well. I really like the BG light radiating into the scene. Thanks for sharing this.

Oh Jim, this is too cool. I just saw some of this guy's relatives at the Sylvan Heights Bird Park in Scotland Neck, NC a couple of weeks ago. Mike Lubbock, who founded the park in 1985, houses thousands of endangered waterfowl, from all over the world. These scarlet ibis are among them. They breed and raise many of the birds for zoos throughout the country. Anyone interested in learning more, their website is www.shwpark.com. I wasn't able to get the shot as nicely as you did, but I sure enjoyed trying. They are beautiful birds. I love the bg, it really does compliment the subject.

Nicely detailed portrait. Shows well against the green background.

A gorgeous bird I hope to see in the wild someday.
Nice BG sets off the scarlet well. That little blip of yellow and the white circle behind the head are a little distracting.
Well-done!

Beautiful color management with both the bright ibis and the nice subtle BG Jim. Congrats on the WP's.
