This is an image from a February trip to Zion National Park. There is endless fascinating detail when one goes exploring. Challenge is isolating it and making it coherent.

Harley, This is excellent! The colors, lines and shapes are wonderful but what really grabs my attention is the amazing textures and detail. Super cool image. I think it would be really interesting to see this printed on metal. devil

Harley, these type of closeup shots are often missed in the field. It is a wonderful example of what is really a solid composition and a great collaboration of colors too. Hard to mistake the general area or southwestern locale with the excellent traces of coral sand in the scene. A neat find and overall image....laugh

Love the undulating curves in this image. There good energy here. The indigo blue provides a nice counterpoint. I grew to like this a lot more in the large version where the individual grains stand out. Reminds me of the Point Lobos image in some ways.

Wow, lovely image but, honestly, my very first thought was of an Aztec or Mayan human sacrifice where a heart was placed on the sacrificial altar.  Shows where my mind wanders, huh?

Off that rather gory line, the image itself is, as I mentioned, lovely.  I love rockscapes and the swirls and colors really attract me, especially the pinkish line that runs right through the heart, er, rock.  It reminds me of a trail of sugar candy both in color and texture.  Very nice composition too.  Well done.

Well composed for sure. Flows beautifully and you've made good use of the colors and textures.

A very interesting image Harley. I love how the lines seem to cradle the rock.

It takes a keen and sensitive eye to come up with compositions of this nature.

Harley, I'd say you met the "isolation" challenge very well here.  The combination of rock and swirls look great.  Those subtle touches of pink are a neat addition.

I really agree with Nick's comments. I think this would make a great fine art image.

This is an exceptionally strong intimate. The swirls, colors and textures all come together to make a compelling image. That cobalt blue lichen adds a powerful color contrast. Very minor suggestion but I might play around with cloning or burning down the white spots on the rock. Nicely seen.

Really like the comp here Mr. H.  The colors, texture and detail really stand out in the large view.  Great job processing this one too.

This is another great abstract, Harley. The lines, texture and color contrast all add interest.  The contrasted color rock makes a nice focal point for the image, but there is interest throughout the frame.
