Happy Mother's Day!  This is a face only a mother could love!  It isn't as colorful as Balan's jumping spider. That was way too cool.  I was able to capture this one in my flower garden yesterday.  Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 100 mm L macro lens, KX-800 twin flash with homemade diffuser, handheld at f13, 1/180, ISO 320.  Edited in Lightroom and NIK.  Cropped at 62% of original.  Comments and suggestions welcome.

Shirley, well color is only one aspect of an image. Your image is very striking, especially, the blacks exposed very well, and the colorful fangs ..the overall composition is very beautiful too, in terms of the curl of the leaf.

Could this be male Phidippus audax

How cool, Shirley, I guess it's jumping spider week. sad  Love the way the green jaws (chelicerae) stand out and the tufts of white hair.  The vignette and the leaf curl at the bottom does a good job of adding to the sense that it's peering at you.  There's a good description of these spiders on this Penn State web site, that suggest this one may be a female (lacking "eye brows").

Shirley this is a great close-up of a jumping spider. Love the curled leaf and those complimentary green fangs. Congrats on your weekly pick too.
