Eastern Kingbird

This morning this Eastern Kingbird posed nicely for me.  I took this through our window with my Canon 7D Mark II, Canon 300 mm f2.8 L lens on tripod with gimbal head.  Settings were f2.8, 1/750, ISO 125.  Edited in Lightroom and NIK with just basic adjustments.  Cropped to (85%) 4X5 format for better composition.  Comments and suggestions are welcome.

A good look at this Eastern Kingbird with a very nice head turn.  I think it could be a little brighter and I would probably clone the branch sticking out of the head.  Well composed.

Love the phoebes and kingbirds, even being common. Great alert pose here, nice detail, creamy BG. Not sure about the OOF small BG branches - I'd consider cloning them out.

Beautiful detail in the Kingbird, Shirley and a very nice pose with a sweet background.  I don't know if you're using software with cloning capability, but I think the sticks coming out of the head are a distraction.

Excellent detail, background and exposure here Shirley, I do wish the bird had turned it's head a bit more toward you, I would also consider removing the small stick coming out of the bird's head. devil

I'll just ditto what everyone else has said: make the head stick go away and brighten the image a little.cool

I do appreciate everyone's input.  Very good advice. I am not the best when it comes to cloning, I admit that right up front, so most of what you see me submit, has no cloning done to it.  That said, when I try to clone, when I get down to the head, I have a dent into the birds head, or the feathers smearing onto the green background, you name it.  Any advice you all have on how you can clone when two objects meet like this (the stick in the bird's head), I would greatly appreciate it. I have tried with Lightroom.  Is there something content sensitive out there, that will save what you want and clone out the rest?  Thank you in advance.

Shirley,

I'll chorus what's been said already. Concerning the cloning I'm sure there are numerous techniques. But If you haven't bundled Lightroom with Photoshop in the Cloud, you might want to look into it. The tools in PS are very well designed to help clone out objects in your image, and the learning curve is not very steep.

Best,
