Morning light, seastack

Just returned from my first photo workshop ever (well really the second - the first succumbed to disaster).  A group led by Kurt Budliger and Joseph Rossbach.  Excellent experience, highly recommended. Got us to the best places at the best times.  Learned a lot.  Unfortunately the sky didn't cooperate for the beach shoots (too clear on the Olympic Coast!).  I stayed an extra day in La Push and hiked to Second Beach.  Canon 5Dsr, 24-70mm at 24mm, Iso 100, F22 (for extending the ss, not dof), 0.3sec foreground, 1/10 sec for the background, and combined.

The shutter speed is perfect for the desired effect. There is a great sense of movement in the water and yet there is good definition. It might be interesting to see how it looks with the blue in the sky a little less saturated. Would love to see a larger version from the 5Dsr.

Daniel: I've been to Olympic twice with lousy light both times so this is a treat and an inducement to try again. Love your comp and SS choice. Top notch.>=))>

I like your choice of shutter speed and the way the water makes a leading line between the rocks to draw your eye into the image. If I had any nit it would be that the image seems a bit weighted to the left side of the image with the foreground rocks and the sea stack on the same side.

A great view here, Daniel.  The texture in the breaking wave in the foreground is terrific.  The clouds are a fine benefit in the sky.  There is a subtle halo around the sea stack.
