We have a fair number of dragonflies that frequent our garden and I'm enjoying stalking and shooting them more and more. I'm not well versed on ID so any help there is appreciated. Used a touch of fill to light up the face as it was in shadow with a relatively bright BG (sunlit yard). Please view LARGE. All comments welcome.>=))>

Nice in his face capture, Bill.  The large view is a must to really appreciate this image.  Great detail in the Dragonfly as well as his perch, with a very nice bg.

That's pretty cool, Bill. Good focus control and exposure gave you remarkable detail on the entire subject, which I rarely see with most DF images. I'm guessing that f16 and proper use of flash were essential for this. I was initially hesitant about the vignette, but it does help to bring the eye toward the star of the show. Typically I include crop info on my posts. And so as a general rule I'd like know how images are cropped. The perch is a little cramped, and to me having more space would be favorable. Overall an excellent image.

A good, sharp shot of the DF, Bill. Seems a little tight.

Bill, this is a great head on view of this Blue Dasher (Pachydiplax longipennis).  I like your frame filing, tight focus on the DF.  The details in it's face and eyes show very well in the larger view.  The background is lovely.

Really nice Bill.  I find DFs very frustrating to catch a good shot of.  This one is a beauty.

Hi Bill,

Blue dashers are a favorite photo subject like this one imaged here. I like the frontal view and the details are tack sharp. BG is nice and the vignetted shadows on the edges are a nice addition for this comp. Well done.......................Jim

Wow Bill, wonderful colors and details in this one.  You nailed the DOF.  They are really tough to get right. Your detail in wings, face, perch, is all great, along with a really nice complimentary BG.
