I may want to  edit out the cattails on the RH side. D500 420 mm (300 mm f4 + 1.4TC) Levels, selected brightening of red, minus saturation of yellows, crop for comp. Thank you for looking............................Jim

He's telling the world he's open for business isn't he Jim.  Nice details int he blacks, and I don't see any reason to edit out the cattails. Classic redwing display.

Superb detail and pose, Jim.  I like the background as well.  On my monitor, the blacks look a bit grayer than suits my taste, but I know a lot of people who like them this way.

Hey Jim,
Great timing on this one with an amazing action pose. I really like the lighting and POV you managed, I also agree that the background looks just fine as is. I can see Dennis' point on the blacks however if you darken them much you will start to lose the feather detail and that might not be worth it. The blacks look very natural on my monitor for the sun angle here.
Well done . . .  laugh

This is a great shot of this Blackbird, Jim!  I wouldn't touch those cattails or anything else for that matter. devil

Really nice Jim!  Love all the detail in the black as well as the red feathers.  Background looks great.

Beautiful calling pose, fine detail, and I think the BG with cattails is fine - although I might tone the yellows down just a hair.
Well done!
