Nome, Alaska
These guys swim around frenetically, trying to catch the water bugs/fleas - tough to catch in a good pose!

I like the open beak; looks as if it is about to catch one of those bugs.

Nice going, Sandy.  I went to all the trouble of going ot the back of the pond and when they swam by they were too close!  I never did get anything worthwhile form them.  This one is very good.  I like what seems to be feeding on the surface bugs.

Very nice color and detail on this shot, Sandy!

It reminds me of a funny story.  I was showing a photo of a Phalarope to a friend while eating lunch in a cafeteria at work and asked him if he had seen a Phalarope before.  He said "You mean the little thing that spins around in circles, stirs up mud off the bottom and then feeds on it?"  I said "yes! That's It!" And he said "Yeah, I knew a couple of them where I used to work". blush

Nice shot Sandy.  I have always wanted to see one.  Great find and really nice low POV.  The glacial water color is also very pretty.  Love the joke too Gary. devil
