Dotting the i

Only a few times a year will the full moon rise far enough south to be seen coming up behind the spires of Cathedral Rock.  On a recent trip to Sedona, I wanted to improve upon the reflection image which I had tried several years ago.  This is a focus stack of four shots taken at 70mm f/11.

Doug, no mistaking this iconic site even upside down in a reflection. Nice idea and excellent planning on the moonrise too....laugh

BTW: Did you use TPE program to figure things out? I use it before every one of my outings.....cool

Paul, yes, TPE was used to determine where and when.  It is a very useful tool for moon and sun events.

Nice timing, Doug.  (or better yet, nice planning.)  The warmth of the reflection contrasts beautifully with the cool shaded rocks and stream.  Looks great.

Pretty neat!  What would happen if you flip it 180?

This is a striking image. There are so many things I am enjoying about it, such as the clever composition, which has a novel element about it, the lovely colors and the strong graphic element. There is also a nice dynamic going on between the rocks slabs above the surface of the water and the reflection.

One of your best IMHO.

Thank y'all for the kind comments.
Aaron- it inverted it and that makes it look like one is looking up though a glass ceiling as the foreground rocks would then appear to be receding as they get closer.  Kinda cool and bewildering that way.

Very nice, Doug.  I might entertain bringing up the shadow areas a bit on the right side, but works real well as is.

I like this, Doug!  This is a very creative way to showcase this event.  The composition and framing look good and your processing is spot on.  Nicely done!  devil

That's a brilliant composition, the moon and lighting on the peaks just perfecting it for me.

Now you just need to cross your "t's", Doug!  This is a well thought out and captured image.  Excellent comes to mind!
