Must look at this photo large to get the best view!  Lots of details, colors and textures.   Might be better if a bit was cropped off the bottom, I think would give more focus on the old gas pumps.  Thanks for sharing.

Sandy, what I immediately picked up on is the fact the glass was still intact in both large windows after many years of abandonment.

I just had to comment on this scene mainly for the location. Back in the late 60's the aircraft I was flying on from Kotzabeu, & Cape Lisburne was forced down by bad weather one heavy snow storm night and landed in Nome. We were ill equipped for a stay over as we had no money at all coming from a month long stay at each of these sites doing engineering work. This was all pre credit card days. As a result we were taken from the airport in an Arctic Snow Cat to the only hotel in town back then and dropped off. We explained our circumstances to the hotel owner and without hesitation he put us up for the evening, fed us, and gave us open bar access. That's the Nome I recall.

Sandy, this speaks volumes of a history long forgotten or never known. Alaska is full of stories like this. It is truly the last frontier, full of both success and failure stories.

I really like these pictures. My imagination always starts wondering what the people were like that worked or lived here. Fine image.
