Browsing Bruin #2

A young (probably 3 year old) Brown Bear, browsing the grass where the base of the mountain meets the tide flats at Valdez, Alaska.  This is the second shot of the same bear that I posted recently.  I like this one better because it has a more interesting pose and shows some personality.

Sony a6500, FE100400GSM @ 400mm, ISO-200, f/5.6, 1/800, hand held.

I also like the pose and the intense look on the face. I also like the bit of environment in this shot. Very nice.

His lean to the right and intense stare to our left, towards a mysterious ripple in the water add a terrific sense of "story" tension to this image.  The hint of reflection is a fine bonus, too.  Fine work.

Agreed that this one works better, Gary.  There's a better balance of brown and green tones throughout the image, the pose is more interesting, and you have the nice texture of those ripples cutting across the frame.

Definitely better Gary!  I like that you got more eye contact with this one and the pose really is great.  This works every nicely as an environmental with the beautiful green grass and the still water with just a bit of ripple on teh surface.  Very nicely done.

Cheers,

Joe

Awesome image Gary.  Fierce look and the reflection really make this photo.
