What a joy to find this Green Heron at a small pond in Maine.

Excellent look and capture of this elusive Green Heron, Norma! They just never get out into the open like that in front of my camera. Nice detail in the feathers, great color, and the pond makes for a sweet background.

I echo the others, Norma. I've shot juveniles this close but only rarely. And to get such a good image of and adult no doubt out in the open is either really lucky or pretty amazing. Just curious, did you post this or one similar before? Looks familiar. Thanks for sharing.

Good open catch and a fine perch and background. Green Herons are notional; sometimes they will pose on an open perch like this, other times they will take flight or seek cover at the slightest provocation! The detail on this photo is acceptable; probably due to some good NR and good exposure at ISO 2200.
