Morning Light, Catalinas

Nearly missed this sleeping in one morning.  I was still in my boxers when I looked out and saw it.  No way was I going to bother getting dressed and risk losing the light. (Yes, it's probably best at this point to just focus on the image on your monitor and not try to imagine anything else.) The Catalinas aren't a very big set of mountains, and it's quite unusual to get this separation between the "peaks" as light rain travels up one of the canyons.  I liked the way it set off the mountain shapes a bit more.

The highlights are a bit blown but otherwise excellent processing, no halos on the sharp ridge and attractive realistic color.

Tony, What a beautiful sky and a very nice touch with just mountain tops across the bottom. It is really quite beautiful and wonderful to look at. I like the colors and processing in this. Not really seeing any blown highlights and it all looks so realistic.  The light in those clouds is fantastic. Nice capture even if you weren't dressed for it...enlightened I would not have wanted to miss it either!

Great light for sure and I love the story that went along with it, Tony. I would have done the same thing. cool

Beautiful sky (unlike the mental picture projected). :)  Highlights look just fine to my eye. Real sweet, Tony.

A splendid looking sky here, Tony. The color array was worth the time spent getting this take. The bright areas look intense, but can't say I'm seeing any areas blown out.

It's a great sky, Tony, especially with the sunrise glow on the clouds along the horizon.  The separation between the mountain ranges helps anchor the view nicely.

This has turned out so well. While the main drama is obviously provided by the clouds, I love the inclusion of the mountains  at the bottom. They not only provide context but nicely balance the composition. The proportion of land to sky is perfect.

The light is fantastic, as are the colors. I am also thoroughly enjoying the wide range of tones that you have included.

Fantastic photo Tony.
