This Great Egret was photographed at the same lagoon, on a very clouded day in San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve,  Solana Beach, CA.  The shot was cropped by 10% and I adjusted the blacks, clarity and saturation, in LightRoom 5.

Beautiful job on the detail and the whites! The subject could do with a little less room behind and a little more room in front. All in all, a solid image.

I love the contrast in this shot, Peter!  Great job with the exposure in that you kept all that beautiful detail of the white plumage yet still have clarity in those black legs.  I agree with Philip's take on the composition but a great capture!

Hi Peter,

The whites are perfect in this image. A little more room on the right will help the composition and make it stronger................Jim

Hi
Thanks you for the comments.  There was no more room on the right side of the frame, so the only thing I can do is crop in the shot from the left.

Nice job on the focus and the exposure, Peter.  I like the wing position as well.  I agree with Phil on the room.
