Have a project going on that is taking all my time - flowers are blooming!  Hard to keep from going out shooting!  I did today for a short while and am posting the photo that required the least work.  All improvements done in lightroom, except for border.

Technical:  D800, 300 mm f4 at f18, ISO 320, 1/80 sec., tripod, polarizer, mirror up.

Commentary and suggestions always welcome!

Beautiful! Love the soft colours, framing, and fully-open bloom.
Just for a sense of balance, I'd suggest straightening the bloom by a slight clockwise rotation.
Really like the frame too - a nice compliment to the image.

Wonderful comp and framing from above, Kathy. The colors are very nice. A polarizer can do wonders for this type of lighting, and the softer surroundings really make the bloom stand out. You made a fine choice stopping down to get the whole flower in good focus.

Kathy: Wonderful subject superbly captured and presented. My only suggestion would be to make the brown spot on the lower petal go away but this is very nice as is. 2 thumbs up! >=))>

Hi Bill (Fach)

I took a look at that spot and looked at the original.  I like it the way I did it, but the global processing did emphasize that large greenish area on the lower petal  more.  So, I went in and did a radial filter on it, reducing the saturation, changing the color balance slightly, adding some haze and other minor corrections.

Here is the latest and thanks for that comment!  Gave me a reason to play with this photo rather than work on this darn project!

Nice approach.  Both versions look fine to me.  I find the textures quite appealing.
