My post of the obscured Dunlin resulted in, uhm, mixed feedback enlightened - thanks to all ! Of course I also made shots showing the Dunlin in full (except for the feet that is ...).

Nikon D500 @ 500mm | 1/1000s | f4 | ISO500 | overexposed 4/3EV | camera and me on the sand

Thanks for viewing as wishing all a nice week ahead,

Cheers,
Hans

Sorry for the "mixed" review, Hans, but I do like this better.  I did like the concept in the first post and if you could get something about half way between the two, I think it would be superb.

Hans, impressive feather detail, especially on the head and bill.  The colorful green vegetation adds lots of interest to the scene also. For me, there's no problem not having the feet visible as long as there's enough landscape in the image to suggest that's where the feet would be placed.  Very nice!

Hans, for me this is more like what I'd go for. The lush greens of the BG add lots to its appeal, and the high-key effect works quite well. Assuming that you were standing, it looks like a pretty challenging area. Thanks for the follow-up post.

Very nice, Hans!  Good detail on the Bird and I like the high key look. I'm guessing more photographers would like this over the previous post, but I bet the other one would make more general public sales because it has a more artistic look. Both are excellent shots and presentations IMHO.

Hi Hans
I think I would go with this posting.  The detail and coloring are vary nice, but I would like some more room on the right hand side of the frame.  Nice work.

A more classical image, Hans. The high key green and white habitat shows off the dunlin's breeding plumage well.

Nice feather detail and excellent exposure Hans. I do find myself wishing for a bit more room as it feels a bit tight in the frame. However, I still think it works.

A very attractive image.  Excellent detail in the Dunlin and I like the overall lighting.

I agree that this is a more interesting image with more of the bird showing. You still done a good job with point of view, detail, and background. I appreciate the high key approach and the seaweed is quite pleasing. I also think you did the right thing and posting the original image as this is a critiquing site and it's worth trying something out of the box.
